The Work Behind the Work: Artworks by the Rochester Art Center’s Staff and Docents
May 30 - August 9, 2026
Reception | Saturday, August 1 at 2:30 PM
Before the gallery opens, in the quiet space of an empty gallery, a staff member flips on a projector and begins the day. During a busy tour, a volunteer kindly invites a visitor to look a little closer—revealing something easy to miss. Behind every exhibition is a team working together to care for unique, precious and meaningful art. They support artists at every stage and welcome the public with warmth and a smile.
But who are the people doing this often unseen work? How does their own creativity shape the way they connect artists and audiences? This exhibition highlights artworks by the Art Center’s staff and volunteer docents, celebrating the artists behind the scenes—the creatives who make everything possible.
