Free Family Day: Dia de los Muertos

Sunday, October 26 | 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Join us for a vibrant Free Family Day filled with artmaking, dance, storytelling, and community connection! Inspired by Día de los Muertos traditions, the day features hands-on activities, colorful alebrijes, and a community ofrenda honoring loved ones.

From 11 AM – 3:30 PM, join artist Ivonne Yáñez in the classroom to create your own matchbox altar — a miniature work of art inspired by the traditions of remembrance central to Día de los Muertos. Guests can also view Yáñez’s artwork currently on display as part of Extraordinary Elsewhere.

Ivonne Yáñez is an interdisciplinary artist and fashion designer from Mexico City, now based in Minneapolis. Her work explores culture, memory, and materiality through immersive installations, soft sculpture, and textile-based works.

Enjoy a full lineup of performances and experiences for all ages:

11:00 AM - 4:00 PM | Art Activities, Community Ofrenda and Alebrijes on view
