Artist Spotlight Tour with Prima Jalichandra-Sakuntabhai

Saturday, November 1 at 1pm

Join Prima Jalichandra-Sakuntabhai a transdisciplinary artist, curator, and art worker currently based in St. Paul, Minnesota, for a guided tour of their work in Extraordinary Elsewhere. Their multimedia installation Appendix A: ocean gazing (2025) weaves together family history, political exile, and the broader story of Asian diasporic communities. Anchored in the memory of their great grand-uncle Pridi Banomyong—an exiled revolutionary leader of the 1932 Siamese Revolution—Prima layers video, archival research, and artifacts to trace the forces that shape migration, from repression and displacement to resilience and the formation of new communities. Through this work and their larger practice, Jalichandra-Sakuntabhai interrogates nationalist narratives, colonial power structures, and belonging across geographies. In this Artist Spotlight Tour, the artist will reflect on these themes and invite dialogue with visitors. Free with admission; no reservations required.

Prima Jalichandra-Sakuntaghai's work is featured in the group exhibition Extraordinary Elsewhere, on view in the Main Gallery until February 1st, 2026.
