Free Thursdays Art for Lunch program is made possible by our dedicated docents.
• What is a Docent? –A docent is a trained volunteer interested in sharing their knowledge and passion for art.
• What do docents do? –Docents conduct tours of the exhibitions for visitors.
• How do I become a docent? –The Rochester Art Center now offers an intensive 6-month training program and ongoing training with each exhibition cycle that provides an overview of modern and contemporary art history, teaching methods and public speaking.
• Benefits –Satisfaction in opening new worlds and experiences to children and adults –Free one-year family membership to the Rochester Art Center –Free admission to Art Center openings and lectures –College level instruction in modern and contemporary art history.

The Rochester Art Center Internship Program
Qualified Interns will assist in education, marketing, development, and facility areas while gaining valuable museum experience. Successful applicants are college, graduate, or advanced high school students interested in the arts and able to commit to 5-10 hours per week. Internships may be applied for college or high school course credit. Downloadable applications, descriptions, and open positions are posted at rochesterartcenter.org under the information menu.
The Rochester Art Center does have opportunities for volunteers, interns, and artists. Artists are encouraged to participate in the Southeast Minnesota Artists Exhibition Series or the 3rd Floor Emerging Artist Series.
