On the first Saturday of each month, the Art Center offers an array of free family-friendly activities:
- Hands-On Art Activities. In the third floor studios, children and families can participate in art projects that are designed to relate to the exhibitions on view at the Art Center.
- Arts Interact. Special docent-led tours of the exhibitions designed to spark conversation between children and family members.
- Family Guides. Information on the exhibition along with questions and discussion topics for children and parents.
May 3 • Bubble Generators
Shape your own bubble blowers, get recipes to concoct your own bubble making solution and add onto an incredible, larger bubble generator.
June 7 • Performance Sculptures
Get in the action, creating sculptures that perform for you and others.
You will construct an erupting volcano, position yourself into one-minute sculptures and more! This activity coincides with the Art Center’s summer exhibition Roman Signer: Works.
July 12 • Rice Paper Floats & Miniature Dragon Boats
Assemble your own floating rice paper object and marvel at other creations during a group river launch! This project features green design elements and stories about traditional Chinese Dragon Boats. (note date change)
August 2 • Steamroller Prints
Lay down your design and watch a real steamroller press out your prints! This activity is part of the “1000 Prints Summer” project created by Northfield based artists ArtOrg.
